[Audio Books] The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss Audiobook Free by Gloria Vanderbilt
A touching and intimate correspondence between Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, offering timeless wisdom and a revealing glimpse into their lives
Though Anderson Cooper has always considered himself close to his mother, his intensely busy career as a journalist for CNN and CBS affords him little time to spend with her. After she suffers a brief but serious illness at the age of ninety-one, they resolve to change their relationship by beginning a year-long conversation unlike any they had ever had before. The result is a correspondence of surprising honesty and depth in which they discuss their lives, the things that matter to them, and what they still want to learn about each other.
Both a son’s love letter to his mother and an unconventional mom’s life lessons for her grown son, The Rainbow Comes and Goes offers a rare window into their close relationship and fascinating life stories, including their tragedies and triumphs. In these often humorous and moving exchanges, they share their most private thoughts and the hard-earned truths they’ve learned along the way. In their words their distinctive personalities shine through—Anderson’s journalistic outlook on the world is a sharp contrast to his mother’s idealism and unwavering optimism.
An appealing memoir with inspirational advice, The Rainbow Comes and Goes is a beautiful and affectionate celebration of the universal bond between a parent and a child, and a thoughtful reflection on life, reminding us of the precious insight that remains to be shared, no matter our age.

This was a really nice way to gain some insight to two really unique, semi-mysterious people. I enjoyed the bits of info they shared. I feel like there were some significant gaps, but you can't cover Gloria Vanderbilt's 92 years in 5 cds, not to mention the additional 40-something years of Anderson. It was a nice format, and I'm sure as they mention it opened up a large amount of further conversation between the two of them.

Fabulous intimate account of Gloria Vanderbilt's life as she remembers it. She and her son Anderson Cooper speak from the heart about their family, and do so while also expressing their own perspective and opinions about various family events. As this book was written by both Gloria Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper it is a deeply personal and I believe an honest family history. The fact the authors have also narrated the book allows the listener to be able to truly feel the emotion in this family story. This is especially true when listening to Ms Vanderbilt speak of her memories. Their mutual respect and love becomes very evident while listening to them recount their stories. I enjoyed every minute of this book as it allowed me such insight into the lives of two people I admire. I appreciate that Ms Vanderbilt and Mr Cooper were kind enough to share their interesting and rather intense family history with us, the listener (reader).

Excellent story that is told so honestly between a mother and son "whom I had no knowledge of as I live in Europe". I feel that the story is being told directly to me. Great incite into the life of someone you felt had it all where riches are concerned and the truth is money doesn't solve everything. Only Love and the challenge along with it is a good prescription for happiness. May they have many years ahead together as mother and son.

This book opens up a new paradigm of relationship between a mother and a son. This is not just a story of a beautiful woman and her successful son. I realized that there is so much to share in our hearts and who is a better person other than your own blood. I am determined to create a similar relationship with my own son. Thank you Mr Cooper and Ms Vanderbilt for sharing your story.
